Our mission is to foster better public health and quality of life for Northampton’s residents and visitors by enhancing the trail network and conducting activities that sustain and grow the community of trail users.
Founded in 2006, the Friends of Northampton Trails consists of nine directors from Northampton and the surrounding Connecticut Valley. Through enhancing the regional trail and greenway networks and conducting activities, we improve the quality and safety of these public spaces, increase recreational access, and enhance air and water quality, and grow the community of trail users.
We work in cooperation with local municipalities, chambers of commerce, and community organizations to host events and identify grants to fund these endeavors; provide assistance to maintain infrastructure; and envision expanded access to sustainable transportation in our region.
We work in tandem with other local organizations to plan events such as annual trail clean-up days, trail planting parties, annual “tweed rides,” and Bay State Bike Month activities. We look forward to seeing you at our next clean up, ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome new trail spurs, or art along the trail opening. Support our work by becoming a member.
